We’re looking for a Data Analysis and Research Assistant with strong numeracy skills to join our Cancer Intelligence Team.

In this exciting and challenging role you’ll...

  • Play a key part in the analysis branch of cancer intelligence
  • Provide key information and statistics to a wide audience, including journalists, policy makers, health professionals, researchers and our supporters
  • Assist with varied tasks such as interpreting and presenting the latest UK cancer statistics for key outputs from the team or helping put statistical content onto our CancerStats website, a leading source of UK cancer statistics

Here at Cancer Research UK, our understanding of cancer is increasing at a faster pace than ever before, and more people are surviving thanks to the work we do. Cancer Intelligence is one of the leading providers of cancer statistics in the UK and has an excellent reputation in the cancer field for statistical presentation and interpretation. Presenting and using data such as incidence, mortality, survival, epidemiology, national and locally-derived statistics, surveys and latest research, we provide meaningful information to a wide audience both internally and externally.

  • Your degree that had a numerical component or experience analysing or communicating data
  • Your close attention to detail
  • Your desire to provide a high level of customer service to internal and external users of Cancer Intelligence
  • Your ability to present data accurately and to communicate information clearly and in a way that’s tailored to your audience
  • Your excellent IT literacy skills, in particular using Excel.

Desirably, you’ll also have experience of using a statistical software package (such as R or STATA) or a database package (such as Oracle or Access).
